Choosing Books
When picking a book for reading at home, it is important to make sure that it is "just right." A "just right" book is one that students can read and understand when reading independently. One way to select a "just right" book is to use the Five Finger Rule. See the illustration below to learn more about this strategy for finding an appropriate reading book.
Books by Reading Levels
Below you will find "just right" books organized by reading level. Remember, it is okay for students to read books above and below their reading level. This allows students to improve their reading fluency and allows students to move forward as readers. However, students should spend time reading books on their independent reading level daily. Most of the books listed below can be found at the Cobb County Public Library.
